Questions & Answers

Special thanks to Staren for asking a lot of them!

I need a place to live!

Q: I need a place to live! Where can I go?

A: Syntahtek: The Living Cubes, Senta: The Neko Neko Apartments, Distant Oceans: The village inn. If you want your own place, please contact our builder wiz or email trimucklegends@gmail.com!

Dimension Travel

Q: I'm a dimension hopper! Can I jump in and out as I please?

A: Dimensional travel is unstable on TRI. While it is possible, it's also vary dangerous, and can result in death, bodies being ripped in two, and other unfortunate events. That's not to say it's impossible, but it's not a safe mode of travel whatsoever.

I Died...

Q: I died. Do I just make a new character?

A: There's lots of options! For details please see the I_Died,_Now_What? section of the wiki!

I Want X Place Built

Q: I want to build stuff! I need a place for my character!

A: Right now we're open to expanding the grid and making places for characters! Please submit what you'd like to our builder wiz, along with descriptions of rooms, size, etc. or email it to trimucklegends@gmail.com and we'll see if it'll fit in to the world so we can add it for you!

I Want To Play My Character Like...

Q: I want to play a canon character different from how they are in their series.

A: Go for it, we have no restrictions on how you play your character. However, please be considerate of other players in your series that may already exist in the game, and realize they might not be from the same dimension/reality your character is from and don't have to conform to your own history.

I'm a vampire! Can I exist in Synthatek?

Q: I'm a mythical magic based style vampire entity undead type thing. What happens when I go into Synthatek?

A: None of your powers will work! Normally, you will collapse and just be a corpse like you should be, similar to how a full on robot would when crossing into Distant Oceans.

Is Time Travel allowed?

Q: I'm playing a time traveler! I want to go back and change things!

A: Enjoy traveling through time! However, any time travel can't affect the present, instead it creates an alternate timeline, similar to how it is done in Dragon ball. So don't expect anything you do in the past to effect the future, etc. So even if you go back and save someone/change things, it won't reflect on the muck canon in any way. Items or people brought back in such a way will simply disappear as they are not part of that timeline.

Character Aging?

Q: As the years pass, do I have to age my character? Do they need to graduate from UMPUHA or SSSS?

A: This is going to be left to player choice. If you want your character to age and go through the years, that's fine. If you want to turn a blind eye and keep them age locked, that's fine too.

No Gunpowder in DO?

Q: Do firearms and gunpowder work in Distant Oceans?

A: No, gunpowder does not work in Distant Oceans. However, far enough out at sea, single shot old style pistols and cannons will work. This keeps modern, more potent firearms from being usable, while still allowing for basic cannons or older weapons at sea.

Modern items in DO?

Q: Can I bring items made with modern technology into Distant Oceans if they are chemically identical to traditional materials (e.g., 3D-printed wood-like polymers, or wooden items made with power tools)?

A: No. Anything created in a tech area or manufactured using modern technology (such as power tools or modern textile factories) will fall apart or fail to work in Distant Oceans. To survive in DO, items must be artisanally made the old-fashioned way.

Genetically engineered characters in DO?

Q: What happens if a character who was genetically engineered or received tech-based life-saving surgery travels to Distant Oceans?

A: They will likely die. It is a very bad idea for heavily tech-reliant beings to cross over to that continent. A genetically engineered entity might survive but its genetics would alter to be a base non-supernatural level. If someone genetically created a gigantic monster in Synthatek or Senta and sent it to Distant Oceans it would die as it crossed the Raging. If the tech-based life-saving surgery has anything left over after surgery in the person that would fail to function.

Magic in Synthatek?

Q: Does Synthatek reject magic the same way Distant Oceans rejects technology?

A: Yes. Magical items—even basic ones with no moving parts—will fall apart or lose all power in Synthatek. Beings whose very existence relies entirely on magic will die there.

Dragons in Synthatek?

Q: Will a dragon die if it goes to Synthatek?

A: Only if the dragon's existence is entirely magical in nature. If they do not biologically rely on magic to simply exist, they will live—but their magical abilities (like fire-breathing) will stop working.

Spells from Tech Origin?

Q: If a character is born in Synthatek (a tech origin), moves to the central continent Senta, and invents a new spell, will that spell fail in Distant Oceans because the caster is from a tech origin?

A: The spell will work fine. Because the character learned and created magic, the spell itself is not considered tech-created.

Magical Status Effects in Synthatek?

Q: What happens if a character with a permanent magical status effect (like a Baleful Polymorph) or a magically regenerated limb travels to Synthatek?

A: The magical effect is removed or suppressed. A magically regenerated limb, for example, would stop functioning or disappear because the magic sustaining it fails. A polymorphed person would unpolymorph, though the polymorph effect would resume on leaving Synthatek, though if a player wants to have some worse effect happen when the spell takes hold again, that sounds like fun RP which is what TRI is all about. For instance, perhaps the polymorph now lasts longer or makes the shape disfigured.

Returning from Synthatek?

Q: If that character leaves Synthatek and returns to the center continent, does the magical effect or limb come back?

A: See above answer. That is left entirely up to the player's discretion and creativity.

Tech-Magic Hybrid?

Q: What if I use magic to transfer the consciousness of a genetically engineered (tech) person into a magical golem?

A: Because this character is now a hybrid of tech and magic, they will not be able to survive in Distant Oceans or Synthatek. They will have to enjoy living on the center continent Senta and nowhere else.

Magic Computers?

Q: Can a tech-savvy wizard create a spell that stores and manipulates data like a computer?

A: No, magic simply doesn't work that way on a conceptual level. Building a "magic computer" falls under the category of Magitech, which only functions on the center continent.
